Sweeny, Wingate & Barrow is excited to announce that its relay team, Tort-Us III, placed 65th overall (and 2nd in its category) in the 2018 Palmetto 200 Relay Race last week.
The Palmetto 200 is an overnight relay race in which 155 teams cover over 200 miles of scenic South Carolina.
This year’s race began in Lexington on March 23. Runners hit various check points at sites such as Santee State Park, historic Charleston and Fort Moultrie before finishing in Mt. Pleasant the following day.
The teams consisted of 4 to 12 runners who split 36 legs. Each team member ran three legs over distances of 3 to 10 miles.
Tort-Us III averaged 8 minutes and 29 seconds per mile.
Each year, the Palmetto 200 Race Group, LLC donates a portion of the relay’s proceeds to non‐profit organizations in the Carolinas. Its official partner for 2018 is The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
