Sweeny, Wingate & Barrow, P.A. is pleased to welcome Jonathan Savitske, Grace Brown, Michael Scarnecchia, Lane Christopher, and Martin Cain as law clerks for summer 2020.
SWB’s law clerk program provides law students with an opportunity to engage in real-world legal work, explore diverse practice areas and gain practical experience with the inner workings of a firm. Law clerks are given the chance to demonstrate their capabilities with respect to legal writing and research, and are provided opportunities to attend deposition, hearings and trials.
Jonathan Savitske is a rising 3L pursuing his J.D. at the University of South Carolina School of Law. Originally from Marietta, GA, Jonathan received a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and a Master of Business Administration from Georgia College & State University. This is Jonathan’s second year working at SWB and is pursuing a track in probate law and estate planning.
Grace Brown is a rising 3L J.D. candidate at the University of South Carolina School of Law. She completed her undergraduate at the University of Tennessee and earned a B.S. in Retail, Hospitality, and Tourism Management with a minor in Business Administration. Grace currently serves as Vice President of the Student Bar Association and the Associate Managing Editor of the South Carolina Law Review. Grace is also going into her second year as a criminal law tutor for 1L students. Additionally, Grace is an active member of Phi Delta Phi and Student Ambassadors.
Michael Scarnecchia is a rising 2L pursuing his J.D. at the University of South Carolina School of Law. For undergrad, Michael attended the University of South Carolina and received his B.S. in Finance. Michael earned Dean’s List all four years of undergrad, as well as student-athlete academic honor roll. Michael also received the Most Unselfish Teammate Award from South Carolina Gamecocks Football.
Lane Christopher is a rising 3L J.D. candidate at the University of South Carolina School of Law and is an active member of the Mock Trial Bar. This past year, she served as the Treasurer of the Student Bar Association. She graduated early from the University of South Carolina with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and a minor in Theater.
Martin Cain is a rising 3L J.D. candidate at the University of South Carolina School of Law. He currently serves as a tutor for 1L civil procedure students and as an Assistant Articles Editor on the Journal of Law and Education. Martin graduated summa cum laude from the University of South Carolina with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Criminal Justice. While at USC, Martin served as Student Government Deputy Elections Commissioner and spent a semester working in Washington, D.C. as part of the Washington Semester Fellows Program.
