Ryan maintains a general litigation practice with an emphasis on retail claims including slip and fall, negligent security, dram shop and other matters affecting retailers. His clients have included well-known grocers, hotels, restaurants, convenience stores, and other retailers. He also litigates cases in the areas of transportation, product liability, commercial litigation and construction defect litigation.
Ryan joined the firm after clerking for a judge on the Circuit Court, South Carolina’s court of general jurisdiction. Ryan has tried cases in both state and federal court and has argued before the South Carolina Court of Appeals. He previously served on the Practice and Procedure Committee of the South Carolina Bar.
Ryan served as finance committee chair and board secretary for a health services district that employs more than 6,700 individuals and manages a hospital, several community medical centers and dozens of physician practices. He and his family are active in their church where he is a member of the lay leadership.
