Shawn joined the firm in 2009 after graduating from Regent University School of Law in Virginia Beach, Virginia. While at Regent, Shawn received the Jay Alan Sekulow Scholarship and was commissioned as a Blackstone Legal Fellow by the Alliance Defense Fund. Shawn was also a 2L Class Senator in the Student Bar Association and served on the Trial Advocacy Board. Prior to law school, Shawn received a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a Bachelor of Music Education, magna cum laude, from Winthrop University. While at Winthrop, Shawn was a member of the Track and Field Team and was selected to the All Big South Conference Academic Team.

Shawn is a native of Lugoff, South Carolina. He is married to the former Amy Pelfrey of Lugoff South Carolina. Shawn and Amy have three sons and a daughter. They are active members of Awaken Church of Columbia. While not practicing law, Shawn enjoys spending time with his family, reading, traveling, exercising, and Gamecock athletics.
