Brandon R. Gottschall is a member in the firm’s Columbia, South Carolina office. His practice focuses on insurance coverage and civil litigation, including cases in South Carolina state and federal trial courts, the South Carolina Supreme Court and Court of Appeals, and the federal Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals. Brandon handles a variety of insurance coverage issues, insurance coverage litigation, and extra-contractual and bad faith litigation, as well as defense issues including pesticide and environmental matters, transportation matters, and construction defect matters.

 

Brandon joined the firm following a three year judicial clerkship under the Honorable Terry L. Wooten, Chief United States District Judge for the District of South Carolina. During his clerkship, Brandon developed experience in a range of federal issues, including insurance declaratory judgment and bad faith actions, civil trials, and general civil litigation, which experience has proved invaluable in his current practice.

Brandon graduated from the University of South Carolina School of Law, where he served as an Articles Editor for the ABA Real Property, Trust & Estate Law Journal. Brandon also served in leadership positions for several law school organizations. Brandon has appeared as a speaker on several panels for the law school and as an Honorary Faculty Member for the school’s inaugural Legal Writing Academy.

​Brandon is a native of Greenville, South Carolina and is married to Erin Marie Gottschall. They have three children and are active members at Grace Presbyterian Church in Columbia, South Carolina. While not practicing law, Brandon enjoys spending time with his family, fishing, snowboarding, and home restoration projects.
